Steel Strut Channels
When it comes to strength and rigidity, there are few better materials than steel strut channels to use. These types of bars, bolts, and hangers are very rigid and serve the function of allowing vehicles to be bolted together rather than relying on a weak tie rod or screw to do so. Strong bolts that can withstand the forces that come along with landing a vehicle in a crash are the most important factor when it comes to safety. This is where steel strut channels come into play as they ensure the strength of the bolts by providing a solid and sturdy base upon which to bolt the vehicle together.
Steel strut channels are available in a wide variety of sizes and configurations. The most commonly seen varieties are either round or rectangular in shape. The rounded models tend to be more versatile and allow for a greater number of connections. Rectangular versions are generally used for lighter duty applications while the hot dip varieties are used for much heavier applications. Hot dip galvanized steel strut channels are also available in a wide variety of configurations and tend to be much more durable and resistant to corrosion. They are sometimes used to provide a synch with other hardware such as tie rods and other fittings.
There are many different types of steel bars and accessories available that can be used to install the channel systems onto a vehicle. These can include installation kits for different sizes of units or plain steel units that are easily customized to the specific needs of any particular installation situation. Not only are these systems very effective at providing a bolt hold for your vehicles chassis but they also make for very nice looking mounts.
Many of the custom units that are available have been manufactured using high quality plain steel in order to ensure the strength and durability that you are looking for. In addition, many of the custom sizes that are available are made using high alloy steel to ensure that the components are rust resistant and provide an overall durable component that will last for a very long time. The roll formed channels are also a very popular option when it comes to strut bars. These are manufactured using a solid blank of steel that is then converted into a solid blank of aluminum.
There are many advantages that the aluminum tubing over the steel tubing when it comes to the mounting of the components. First, the aluminum tubing is much lighter weight which makes it easier for the system to be installed on any type of vehicle that has a standard performance chassis. Since the channels are made in a blank of steel the fabrication of the unit can be done on a much larger scale than what would be used for the plain steel roll formed units.
Steel strut bars also come in many standard and custom sizes. These are typically measured in half-inch increments, and most manufacturers will allow you to choose the correct length that you need for your particular application. For instance, if you are using a single channel strut bar on a four-wheel drive car you would choose the full length to properly support the structure of the car. If you were looking for something for a truck however, you would likely go with shortening the length of the unit. This makes the strut look more sporty and fits better on a stocker drivetrain.
